How to Travel With Your Pet

2. Obligatory Vaccines
The main vaccination your pet needs is for rabies, but be really careful with the dates of the jabs and when you’ll depart. You’ll need to wait at least 21 days after the first rabies vaccination before traveling to an EU country.
If you’re coming from a high-risk rabies country, your pet will need a blood test 30 days after the rabies vaccination to prove everything is okay. And you’ll need to wait three months from the date of the blood sample before you can leave your country.
And, most important of all, your pet can only start taking the vaccinations after you’ve fitted your pet with a microchip – otherwise they won’t be valid.
