10 Amazing Places in Greece for a Beach Vacation

Greece is known for its ravishing, endless beaches that offer such wonderful views and things to do, both for those who want to take some time to relax and for those who want to spend some time exploring. How cool is that?

Here are 10 of the most gorgeous beaches I recommend you check out during your aquamarine adventure for a truly great beach vacation.

1. Balos Lagoon

Balos Lagoon is by far one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete. Located just near the wonderful town of Kissamos and accessible only by boat or car, the lagoon will greet you with a landscape of unique beauty thanks to a group of mighty rocks, surrounded by turquoise, clear waters and pink, delicate sand. Also, Balos Lagoon is unquestionably the most photographed Greek natural wonder.

2. Agios Prokopios Beach

Agios Prokopios Beach on Naxos Island is an ideal place for those willing to spend all day lounging in the sun. This place offers one of the most amazing sceneries in Greece. Facing the north, you’ll fall in love with the imposing rocks; turning southward, you’ll be overwhelmed by the endless forests and their shady trees.

Oh, and I also have some good news for those of you who love windsurfing: summer months have the perfect weather conditions if you want to go with the wind.

3. Elafonisi Beach

Elafonisi Beach is truly splendid. Located in the southwest of Crete, on the island with the same name, it is distinguished by white or pink sand and crystal clear waters. If you want to explore the surroundings, I highly recommend you to check out the Chrysoskalitissa Monastery nearby and the Agia Irini lighthouse. Don’t forget your camera!

If you’re traveling, one of the best ways to start to get to know the local culture is to indulge in a popular local drink.

The World in Soda

Our taste buds can tell us a lot about ourselves. While giants like Pepsi and Coca-Cola still rule the worldwide soda market, smaller brands that represent local tastes have maintained their loyal followers for years in places like Switzerland and Barbados.
