Not only is there a beach with purple sand, but also it’s practically in your own backyard in Big Sur, California. It’s a bit of a journey to reach Pfeiffer Beach, but it’s stunning violet sands make it well worth the trip. The unique purple color is cause by the manganese garnet rocks in the cliffs that overlook the shoreline. If you happen to be there at the right time of the day, you might get a glimpse of the sun peeking through the arch of Keyhole Rock. You may also see a whole lot more because the beach is sometimes clothing optional. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
