14. Volcano Boarding – Léon, Nicarágua
As crazy as it may sound, there are people who climb active volcanoes, enjoy the views from up high, and then slide all the way down on wooden sleds. Travelers need to wear a protective one-piece suit along with goggles and leather gloves, otherwise they could get hurt in a possible crash in the rocky landscape.
The sport was created at Cerro Negro, a 728-meter mountain, just outside of Leon. It takes 45 minutes to reach the summit and the fastest speed ever recorded going down was 95 km/h.
