Yoshino Cherry Blossoms in Japan

Mt. Yoshino is considered by many people to be the most popular viewing spot for cherry blossoms in all of Japan. A large variety (about 200) of more than 30,000 cherry blossom trees bloom between late March and mid-April every year. The cherry blossom trees are located in four unique areas between the lower and upper parts of the mountain. The placement of the trees and their range of elevation lead to a staggering of blossoms by a couple of days, extending the total time that the trees are in bloom.

Visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms as they hike up the mountain, stroll through the Yoshino tourist town below the mountain with its various temples and shrines, or hold picnics in the various parks surrounded by the trees.
