3 Most Romantic Spots in Budapest
3. Fisherman’s Bastion
In Budapest’s Castle Quarter, you can find the Fisherman’s Bastion: one of the most charming sights that will offer you unforgettable romantic views over the city. Together with your better half, stop and stare at the Hungarian Parliament, Margaret Island, Chain Bridge, Margaret Bridge, Elizabeth Bridge, Academy of Sciences, Basilica of St. Stephen and the wonderful Danube. Amazing city, isn’t it?
Just like a true miniature castle, the bastion seems taken out of a fairytale – no wonder it became one of the most photographed spots of the Hungarian capital. Ranking as a favorite for couples from all over the world, the place is something that the two of you don’t want to miss under any circumstances!
As part of the renovation works of the district hosting the Royal Palace in Budapest, the Fisherman’s Bastion was designed and built between 1895 and 1902 in an architectural style that shows both elements of Neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque. There are two possible explanations for its name: Some people say a fish market was held here during the Middle Ages; others say the fishermen’s guild used to defend this particular part of the castle’s wall. However, despite its name, the building is nothing more than a stunning terrace ready to welcome you and your loved one.
