Goreme, Turkey
Located in the Cappadocia historical region of Turkey, Goreme is an ancient town that is known for its beautiful “fairy chimney” rock formations. In addition to fantastic rock formations, Goreme is also the home of beautiful 9th century frescoes that decorate the walls of the local churches. Tokalı Kilise (The Church of the Buckle) features some of the most important, as they are based on the Gospel of James, rather than the Canonical Gospels, making them some of the rarest works of art in the world.
