9. Bakeapple Pie
Many wannabe pastry chefs are confused when they learn that bakeapple pie, which is native to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, doesn’t actually contain apples. Instead, it’s made of cloudberries (which are often called bakeapples), a tiny orange berry that’s native to the boreal forest and artic tundra ecosystems that cover most of Newfoundland.
Bakeapple pie is usually topped with a dollop of whipped cream, which complements the tartness of the berries.
