4. Patriarca da Floresta
This tree is one of many that is in danger of being destroyed by deforestation and forest clearing in Brazil. Known as the Patriarch of the Forest (Patriarca da Floresta), this enormous, 3,000-year-old tree stands at over 160 feet tall, and is considered to be sacred by many of the local tribes. A prime example of the native Brazilian species Cariniana legalis, it is the oldest non-conifer tree in Brazil.
