4. Machu Picchu
As a long-lost 15th century city that was discovered a little over 100 years ago, it would be disastrous to lose this gem once again; however, scientists worry this just might happen. Thanks to a train that has made it easier to visit the site, tourists by the masses have headed to Inca citadel to witness its beauty first hand, and sadly, this has damaged the attraction significantly. So much so that government officials in Peru have gone to extreme lengths to limit visitors to the area, diverting them to other Incan sites in the region. Still, Machu Picchu remains at risk when it comes to other factors as well, and because it lies on a fault line, a landslide could take it out or even an earthquake.
