Main Cities and Towns

London

London is England’s capital and the most populous city in the country. It also has the largest metropolitan area in the whole of the European Union. It’s the world’s largest financial system and one of the biggest travel hubs.

The city is a cosmopolitan pot and one can meet people from all over the world. It has a vibrant restaurant and clubbing scene, along with a strong cultural movement. Samuel Johnson famously said “when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life,” which beautifully encapsulates the feeling.

Cambridge

Cambridge is located around 80 km north of London, and in the past, it was an important trading center. It has a population of around 123,000 of which nearly 20 percent are students due to the famous Cambridge University, which was founded in 1209.

The city is considered one of the prettiest in England due to the strong presence of early medieval architecture. Visitors also flock to the River Cam to enjoy some punting, where people propel the punt (a flat and square boat) with the aid of a pole.
