Mount Olympus
Mt. Olympus is another mountain that is known not because of it’s massive elevation, but because of its cultural significance. Mt. Olympus is the highest peak in Greece, but it is its role in mythology and Greek culture that people talk about.
Mt. Olympus is the mythological home of the Greek gods, and was considered sacred for centuries. Now, it’s a national park, where tons of different species of both animals and plant life flourish. You can also summit the tallest peak, known as Mytikas (“nose”). It’s only a few miles away from the town of Thessaloniki.
