Flowers are one of the most beautiful objects in nature — their bright faces remind us of sunshine and warm weather, and their perfume can help us recall specific memories that all our other senses have forgotten. Even something as simple as looking out a window can make us happier, and less stressed out, according to a study from the Scandinavian Journal of Forest Research. While many of us strive to make our home the perfect outdoor oasis, others focus on spectacular displays of flowers that can only be found in a small number of places.

Keukenhof – Netherlands

One of the most quintessential displays of flowers in the entire world are the tulip fields of Keukenhof, in the Netherlands. Known as the Garden of Europe, these orderly fields of tulips are located in Lisse, South Holland and are made up of more than seven million individual tulip bulbs that are grown as part of the Netherlands’ massive tulip industry. If you want to see these gorgeous blooms for yourself, April is the best time to visit — the tulips are usually at their peak at that time, although times vary depending on the weather.
