The Best Pasta Restaurants in the World
One of the most tragic food injustices over the last few decades is that pasta has become a routine meal. Open a cardboard box of noodles, dump them into a pot of boiling water, take them out when your timer tells you to, cover them in jarred sauce, and serve. It’s no wonder that we’ve almost forgotten what truly amazing pasta tastes like.
Today, we’re here to tell you that there is still hope for us all. Amazing pasta is within our grasp — although it may require a plane ticket. These restaurants are serving up some of the most delicious pasta in the world, which will not only tantalize your taste buds, but also inspire and rejuvenate your home cooking.
Trattoria La Casalinga – Florence
One of the most horrific food crimes on Earth is the slop that’s being passed off as alfredo sauce. It’s cream doctored with cream cheese (horror!), with no spice and no nuance. Trattoria La Casalinga, which is located just off a quiet piazza in Florence, is serving up incredible cream-based pasta sauces, delicious minestrone soups, and tons of amazing main courses. Their amazing tortellini are made in-house, and the pure simplicity of their cuisine is evidenced in dishes like tortellini panna e prosciutto, tortellini in a light cream sauce with cubes of prosciutto.

L’Arcangelo – Rome
Potato gnocchi are relatively easy to make but are even easier to mess up. Homemade gnocchi often come out hard and gluey instead of light and fluffy and sit in your stomach like a ball of lead.
Roman restaurant L’Arcangelo is known around the world for their incredible potato gnocchi. They’re light, with just enough texture so you can taste them before they melt in your mouth. Their most popular dish is Gnocchi alla Matriciana, gnocchi tossed with fresh tomato sauce, strips of guanciale, and freshly grated Pecorino.
