Jain Temple – Ranakpur, India
The Jain Temple in Ranakpur, India was originally constructed in the 15th century after a local business owner had a vision of a temple that he then felt compelled to build. The building was constructed from white marble, and the outside appears to be literally dripping with intricate carvings.
There are over 1,444 pillars supporting the roof, and every single one of them is unique. Inside the temple, the intricate carvings continue. The craftsmanship of this temple was attributed to an architect named Deepaka, whose name is carved into a pillar near the main shrine.
