4. Courchevel Altiport
The Courchevel ski resort in the French Alps has its own altiport, a location where small airplanes and helicopters can land. This has been a boon to their rich clientele — mostly the super-elite of Russia — who use it to get into the resort easily and avoid a long, mountainous drive.
The runway at the Courchevel altiport is on a slope, which helps with acceleration during the downhill takeoff, but makes landing a bit tricky because the pilot has to brake while going up a hill. There are also no lights or landing aids, which means that blustery or cloudy conditions make landing almost impossible.
