3. The Galapagos Islands – Ecuador
The story of Charles Darwin’s remarkable finds on the Galapagos Islands made them a destination of mystery and interest for centuries. The collection of nineteen islands, set apart from the larger land masses in the area, have allowed the evolution of unique species of flora and fauna. The giant tortoises are probably the most famous residents of the Galapagos, but land iguanas and numerous distinct species of birds are also the subjects of visitors’ photographs.
