Top 12 Underrated Cities in Europe

9. Gothenburg, Sweden
Even though Gothenburg is the second-largest city in Sweden, it tends to get fewer visitors because it’s more of a university town than a tourist destination. It’s situated on the opposite coast to Stockholm, Sweden’s capital. Gothenburg sits right on the Kattegat, a small area of sea coast that eventually merges with the North Sea.
Gothenburg is home to many different festivals, all of which are worth a visit – the Film Festival is held in January, and there are tons of music festivals all summer long. Walking down the Kungsportsavenyen, the main thoroughfare of the city, will bring you past tons of interesting cultural buildings, as well as hip restaurants and bars.
