4. Being Homesick

If you’re going to travel for an extended period of time, at a certain point you might find yourself longing for your mother’s food, your friends’ laughter and the comfortable surroundings of home. It might be especially hard if you’re traveling on your own.

Thankfully we have enough technology — smartphones and WiFi everywhere — that you can literally talk to everyone every day, if you so wish. Still, bear in mind that no technology can replace a hug.

The crazy thing is that whenever I think about my most terrible stories, I laugh out loud! Seriously, once in Goa, India, I somehow got bitten by this evil ant and woke up the next day with half my face completely swollen — think about Rocky Balboa after a fight! My brother mocked me for ages!
