Internet isn’t always included on board, and when you’re out in the middle of the ocean, Internet prices can be pretty steep. Be sure to get all your social networking done at a free Wi-Fi spot on land in order to avoid any excessive e-mail expenses.

If you like your vacations to include a few (who are we kidding, a bunch) of cocktails, be sure to check your tickets to see if alcohol is included. Many cruises will charge extra for anything other than juice, and pop and those late night tiki bar stops can leave you broke in a hurry.

Cruises bank huge on merchandise sales and will most likely try to push you through one or two of their custom shops on your daily travel routes through the ship. These shops aren’t cheap either.
