9. And Finally, You’ll Come to Understand True Freedom

Of course, most of us are free in many regards. Freedom, after all, is freedom to do anything we desire, not freedom from consequences. But nothing makes you feel free like packing your bags and just going. There’s no schedule. There’s no job you have to do. There’s just you, whoever is tagging along, whoever you meet along the way, and a big open world just waiting to be explored.
Every day is an adventure. What will you do? Where will you go? To quote Lord of the Rings again (shut up, it’s a fantastic series), “It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

Every morning when you wake up on your journey, you’ll feel truly, unstoppably free in body, mind and soul. And that is something special. Something you’ll never find in your own backyard. Something that only exists out there.
