Both of these countries are members of the United Kingdom, but voted overwhelmingly to stay in the EU — Scotland voted 62% in favour of remaining, while Northern Ireland’s remain side took almost 56% of the popular vote. The leaders of these countries have both spoken out insisting that they will push for further referendums specific to their own countries about whether or not to separate from the United Kingdom, and remain in the EU independent of England, Wales, and Ireland.
