The Top Travel Trends of 2018
5. Winter Is the New Summer
Speaking of Iceland, many travelers are no longer allured by warmer temperatures when it comes to holidays and vacation. In fact, a study recently revealed that 79 percent of U.S. citizens would think about taking a trip overseas during the winter months, with 53 percent not interested in the weather, rather the cultural experience. Which makes complete sense as to why many head to the Harbin Ice Festival in China, with over a million travelers present at the event in 2017. The tourism industry is on high alert to this ice-cold travel trend, with hotels popping up in the Arctic Circle, Northern Sweden opening new accommodations, and other tourist attractions increasing in popularity, including the Finnish Lapland tour, as well as Russia’s Reindeer Herders excursion.
