The World in Egg Dishes
| August 2, 2017
Oto
Oto is a Ghanaian dish, usually prepared and served by someone on their birthday. Traditionally, the dish is made of Ghanaian yam, mashed with onion-infused oil, and served with boiled eggs on top.
Ghanaian brides will often eat it on their wedding day. It’s traditional, but also practical. The protein packed dish gives them energy for an exhausting day, and the starch ensures they don’t have to use the restroom during the long ceremony.
