11. It’s not what your parents want for you
Going against your family is never going to be an easy decision, especially if you’re still living at home and depend on your parents. But if you have this burning feeling inside telling you that you must go out and see the world, you shouldn’t ignore it.
You should change their perspective. Instead of framing it as “just having fun,” you can always say you want to learn another language, or volunteer and help people. The moment your parents understand that it won’t be a waste of time and you’re actually going to gain skills and confidence, they might become easier to convince.
