5 Pieces of Advice for Chocolate Lovers Traveling to Belgium
Give chocolate a break
Yes, you read that right. If you’re going to Belgium, why not try another highly praised product of this country – beer? Just like chocolate, beer comes in various types and bottles. Belgian beer is globally known as one of the best in the world. But be careful: it usually contains more alcohol than the ones you’re used to drinking. So don’t be surprised when a local tells you “don’t worry, this isn’t a strong one,” while filling your glass with a 6.5 % alcohol beer.
From beers made by monks to the fruit flavored ones, Belgium will provide you with a large selection of this product. Of course, you can try them in bars, but most of them are worth tasting in breweries and restaurants. You’ll notice that many beers are served in specific glasses – a lot of brands have their very own glasses. The bottles are very diverse, too.
Some restaurants specialize in serving food dishes with matching beers. And, if you want to experiment with something unusual (but so delicious), don’t be afraid to try stuff like the Trappist beer paté.
Now return to chocolate before dizziness takes you over!
Oh, and don’t forget to take some chocolate home, too. Besides the souvenirs for your dear ones, you’ll want to lengthen this sweet adventure and have some choco-bites every single day. A couple of months after my trip, my delicious stash is long gone and I very much miss it!
There’s never enough said about Belgian chocolate. It’s needless to mention that you’ll have a great time, right?
