Go on a Shopping Spree at the Open Air Markets
Rio de Janeiro has no shortage of open air markets. General Osario offers a produce market on Tuesday mornings, and a “Hippie Market” on Sundays, Copacabana offers a nightly and aptly named “Night Market,” and Leme has a produce market on Thursday mornings.
Perhaps the biggest and baddest of them all but closing at nightfall, Rio General Market near Uruguaiana metro station, offers anything and everything you could possibly want to buy. Trinkets, souvenirs, Halloween costumes, cell phones, and more are on offer as vendors shout their excellent prices.
