Try eating someplace without an English menu
This suggestion is the toughest one to swallow, which is why I’m saving it for last. If the restaurant doesn’t have an English menu, then you can almost guarantee it will be authentic. The challenge, and it can be an intimidating one, is how to order. I normally point at what someone else is eating or ask the server to surprise me. Sure, you might end up feasting on monkey brains or chicken testicles, but look around the room. Everyone else is alive and they’re eating the same thing. You, too, will survive.
