7 Weird Things No One Will Tell You About America
Houston is Sinking
That’s right, if you were thinking about investing in Houston, you may want to take a step back and re-think, unless you want to end up in the ocean. Built on “unconsolidated sediments” (in layman’s terms, a swamp) the city has actually sunk ten feet over the last century and continues to sink today. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that people have been taking this seriously, as inhabitants keep drilling new wells and pumping water out of the aquifer which increases the rate of sinking. Better invest in some swimming lessons along with the house.

Americans Can’t Pass Their Own Citizenship Test
After a study was conducted by the Immigrant Archive Project in Miami to see how well everyday Americans knew their own country, it was found that, surprisingly, they didn’t know it that well. 14 out of 15 people that were tested with the official citizenship test failed, the same test that immigrants are required to pass in order to become American citizens. It seems that many foreigners know the country better than Americans themselves. And don’t blame the study – USA Today and Newsweek also found similar results with roughly 64% of Americans able to successfully answer questions that 91% of immigrants were answering correctly. Come on guys, hit those books!
