“Say what!? I don’t have one!” You might say. Yes you do. It could be your smartphone or, if you’re old school, a guide book.

Sometimes you face some tribulations when you travel — an accident, a missed flight, or a mad dash to find a place to stay after the couchsurfing host didn’t reply. What are you going to do? You need to be able to turn a bad situation into a manageable one.

Even if you like to travel like a Spartan (I do that all the time!) nowadays you can find cheap smartphones and even cheaper local SIM Cards. So make sure you carry one, packed with the latest travel apps and use it if you feel a disturbance in the Force.

To be a true Jedi Traveler, you need years of experience and a mentor making sure you’re not lured to the dark side. The good thing is that nowadays you can teach yourself by traveling solo and find an online mentor – something like, ahem, Travelversed!
