12. Have proper documentation for all the children in your party

This also applies if you are taking another person’s child across the border. Having the signed letter of consent ready to go is a great way to show the border guard that you’re serious about following the rules. You should also make sure to read up on the rules surrounding documentation for minors before booking your next family trip, and make sure that everyone has their passport and birth certificates sorted out and in good standing.
