8. Declare everything
Now that you know what you’re allowed to bring, it’s important to declare it on your customs form so that border officials know what you’re bringing into the country. Many problems arise when inspections reveal things that were found in your luggage that you lied about having. Many mistakes can be forgiven if you declare it — making it an honest mistake — but once you attempt to conceal the existence of your (say) wheel of delicious cheese from France or cured meat from Italy, you will find that border guards become less forgiving.
