9. Don’t give details you weren’t asked for
If you’re worried about customs agents asking questions at the border, know that it’s ok to dull down your answers in order to discourage follow-up questions. You should never lie about your activities or your purpose for entering the country, but it’s also not necessary to give unsolicited details. If you’re travelling to Colorado to attend a conference on growing marijuana, it’s not necessary to expound on your activities other than to say that you’re going to a conference. The idea is to sound as safe and boring as possible while still being truthful.
