The Cult – North Conway, New Hampshire
Although this haunted house isn’t in operation anymore, it was known in 2012 as the most extreme haunted house in the USA. Every participant entering the haunted house was given a red safety pass, and could hold it up at any time to end the experience.
Once inside, patrons were subjected to what organizers called a ‘real life terror’ experience. The focus of The Cult was on the actors bringing the experience to life — they never relied on canned music, animatronics, or special effects.
