8 Tips for Exploring Angkor Wat
Take a cool lunch break
By lunchtime, you’ll need a break, especially if you got up for the sunrise. It’s also a strategic time to take a rest, because it is the heat of the day when the sun is at its highest and most uncomfortable, with almost no shadows to escape to.
If you’re only touring temples with a one-day pass, you’ll want to take a lunch break, but probably won’t have time for a nap at your hotel. While the restaurants around the temples are overpriced and not rave worthy, they are super convenient. If you’re really picky or on a total tightwad budget, you can also bring a packed lunch with you. But whatever you do – don’t skip lunch! Touring temples in the heat is tiring, and being hungry and grumpy makes it so much less enjoyable.
If you have a 3 day pass, you definitely have time to go home for a shower to wash off the sweat and ruin dirt, and then take a long relaxing nap or a dip in the pool to refresh yourself. After lunching, relaxing, and rejuvenating, you’ll be ready to take on the temples again.
