Power Walk: The Most Walkable Cities in the World
| May 21, 2018
As far as walkable cities go, few (if any) are better than Florence. The Tuscan capital was once a center for trade and finance in medieval Europe. Translation: prepare yourself for an education in Italian architecture. It’s an official World Heritage Site that’s full of museums, art galleries, and Italian food.
The city is small. How small? A determined traveler can walk from one end to the other in less than an hour. What’s more, areas of the city’s historic center are restricted to buses, taxis, and permit-holding residents, encouraging pedestrians to roam free. In short, you must walk the streets of Florence at least once in your life. You certainly won’t regret it.
