6. St. Simons Island, Georgia
Another gorgeous island that doesn’t get as much attention as it deserves is St. Simons Island – it’s one of four islands that make up the Golden Isles off the southeastern coast of Georgia. The island itself is less than 18 square miles and is easily traversed by bike; there are plenty of places that rent beach-cruiser bikes for a small daily fee.
There are several golf courses on the island, but if you’re not hitting the green, you can explore the islands salt marshes, walk along the white sand beaches, then tuck into some incredible seafood at restaurants like Crabdaddy’s Seafood Grill, where they’re known for their legendary shrimp and grits.
