5 Culinary Experiences That Are Uniquely New York City
While many travel to the City that Never Sleeps for the nightlife, the bright lights of Broadway, or endless shopping opportunities, I travel to the Big Apple for the food. I can easily spend the entire weekend in NYC just eating. Whether it’s chasing my favorite food trucks, taking a self-guided food tour of Chelsea Market, or exploring Eataly, the options are endless.
Each trip is filled with new food related activities. I’m always amazed at what I find. Here are 5 culinary experiences that are uniquely New York City.
Celebrate your bar mitzvah even if you’re not Jewish at Sammy’s Roumanian
Sammy’s Roumanian opened 40 years ago and not much has changed since then. Diners are treated to a true “bar mitzvah” experience. While you’re feasting to Jewish delicacies like chopped liver, kasha varnishkes, and broiled tenderloins, enjoy live music performed by the resident lounge lizard.
Don’t scoot out after eating though! Continue to sip from your bottle of vodka served in a frozen ice block. You might even work up the courage to dance the hora with the table next to yours!
