4. Knödel – the mighty Austrian dumplings
During your time in Austria, do not miss the famous dumplings (Knödel)! They can be sweet or savory and filled with anything from meat, cheese to several fruits. Among the most popular ones are Serviettenknodel, filled with cream, cooked in a bain-marie and served in slices. Marillenaknodel are another variant, made from sweet potatoes, stuffed with apricots and served with butter and cinnamon.
