The reputation of the century old Tour De France took a hit in recent years when it was revealed that Lance Armstrong, who’s taken the top title at this international bicycle race a grand total of seven times, did it by doping. However, it still stands as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world and is a sight to behold, in person if possible.

First started in 1903, the almost 3,000-mile race stretches across the French countryside and into neighboring countries, winding its way through the Alps and the Pyrenees mountains. Although the rural legs of the race sound charming, the part we’d most like to witness is the crossing of the finish line at the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
