This bar wins points not only for its amazing cocktails, but also for the elaborate maze that they lead patrons through before they’re allowed to settle back at the bar with a drink. Speak Low is one of the world’s greatest speakeasies and can only be reached by going through a hidden passageway behind a bookshelf in Ocho Bar Tools in Shanghai.

Once you’re through to the bar itself, you can enjoy yourself with one of legendary bartender Shingo Gokan’s cocktails, like his Sawadee Cup, which blends tapioca and whiskey for an east meets west showdown. On the third floor, there’s another, smaller bar, and rumor has it there’s even a third level of speakeasy which can only be reached through a door marked “Employees Only.”
