Yet another hellish locale can be found in the city of Beppu in Southern Japan, home to the Chinoike Jigoku, which translates to “Bloody Hell Pond.” You can’t bathe in these iron oxide laden hot springs, but you can eat food that was cooked in them and slather your skin in beauty products made from their murky sludge.
