The best time to go to Colonial Williamsburg is the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. It’s still decked out with Christmas decorations, but the crowds are down while locals stay in with family.
Predictably, the worst time to visit is the height of summer (aka tourist season). Because Williamsburg is in southern Virginia, it will not only be very crowded, it will also be very hot (even indoors). Bring plenty of water!
