The day pass at Williamsburg costs $40 for an adult (which is anyone 13+). If your family looks like mine, that starts getting pretty expensive pretty fast.
But you can wander Colonial Williamsburg freely without a pass–you just can’t go inside any buildings flying a flag outside their door. While you’ll miss out on the craftsmen and building tours, you can still pop in shops and see street demonstrations.
If push comes to shove, visit without a pass to sample the atmosphere and do some exploration. It’s still totally worth the stop.
