13. Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival – Ireland
Lisdoonvarna is a tiny town in western Ireland that holds an annual matchmaking festival every September. It’s organized by Ireland’s last traditional matchmaker, Willie Daly.
Singles come from all over the world to meet potential mates, and to facilitate this, there are tons of dances and concerts, as well as opportunities to meet Willie personally and touch his special Lucky Book, which is supposed to guarantee that you will marry within six months.
Each year, the festival attracts more than 60,000 people, swelling the tiny population of Lisdoonvarna to over 80 times its usual number.
