Mini Guide to New Zealand
Raglan
Raglan is a top surfing destination and attracts people from all over the world. It was once just a beachside town for the people of Hamilton (48 km away), but after being featured in the 1966 film Endless Summer, it became a sensation.
It’s still really small with a population of just under 3,000, but many surfers stay in the campsites looking for the perfect wave. The main point breaks are Indicators, Whale Bay, and Manu Bay — which offering incredible lefts for advanced and beginner surfers.
Kaikoura
Apart from the amazing landscape, New Zealand is also famous for its vast fauna, which can be easily seen in the wild. Kaikoura is the ideal place for those who want to see seals and go on whale watching boat trips.
Kaikoura’s coast is peppered with seal colonies and visitors can enjoy the views with these big mammals bobbing around them. Not far from there, one can actually visit a baby seal sanctuary at Ohau Stream, where the little seals “walk” up the river and have fun at the waterfall.
