The Best Distilleries in Scotland
Laphroaig
Laphroaig whisky is intense, with a deep, smoky flavor that’s unique among Scotch whiskies. The distillery was established in 1815, a single year earlier than its neighbor, Lagavulin.
Going on a tour here allows you the unique privilege of tasting the whisky accompanied by its source water, which is thought to be the best way to enjoy fine whisky. They also offer guests the opportunity to learn about the peat that goes into Laphroaig whisky, and offers tastings paired with food. Although they are open all year round, they only offer tours on weekends during the winter.
Our Friends of Laphroaig love the chance to taste straight from the cask. They're not the only ones… pic.twitter.com/nOOto4V67T
