French People Are Rude

French people have developed a reputation for being rude, and although it isn’t a very flattering trait, many French people themselves admit that it’s true. Many Parisians are used to defending their place in line at the grocery store or boulangerie with their elbows, as hopping the line is considered an enjoyable contact sport.

French bureaucracy is known to be intimidating even to the most hardened Parisian, which has caused friction with tourists who are used to officials and government agencies being helpful, rather than unnecessarily complicated.
