13. Ik Kil Cenote – Mexico
A cenote is formed when a sinkhole exposes groundwater, which results in a circular, deep pool that’s perfect for swimming. Mexico is full of different cenotes, but the most spectacular is the Ik Kil Cenote, which is located in the Yucatán province.
Ik Kil is situated in a cave, but it’s open to the sky, and twining vines running from the mouth of the cave form a curtain that masks the harsh sunlight. If you want to swim here, it’ll only set you back about $5 USD.
