Traveling With a Disability
Be early and don’t over schedule
Between jet-lag and illness, traveling can be stressful and tiring for just about anyone, let alone a person with a disability. It’s tempting to pack your days full of activities so you can do and see as much as possible, but overscheduling your itinerary could tire you out and cause you to miss out on some of the things you really want to do. Give yourself plenty of downtime, know your limits, plan with them and don’t overestimate your stamina. Focusing on quality instead of quantity will help to ensure that you have a happy and healthy trip and that you knock the important things off your “must-see” list.
It’s also always a good idea to arrive early, whether it’s for your flight, a meal or a performance. By giving yourself some wiggle room you’ll be less stressed and have time to troubleshoot should anything go wrong.
